What many liberals fear, however, with the possible ascendancy of a conservative political regime is the loss or severe weakening of small hard-won gains in the fields of social legislation, civil rights, criminal justice, international dialogue and environmental matters. Many well known conservative political figures, in this region particularly, have dismal records on such issues. When more of these men display real concern and propose definite programs to address these important problems, liber als may be easier to sell on the benefits of •■limited government fiscal responsibility, a free market” ( with contro , s * troublesome imports?) “ a stabl ‘ economy, and a strong , defense” (with ( i5 B ^ al bility and lower taxes’) Sincerely, Dorothy D.
